SOARS Virtual Conference

About The Event

The Showcase of Osprey Advancements in Research and Scholarship (SOARS) is an annual interdisciplinary conference at the University of North Florida (UNF) in which undergraduate and graduate students showcase their research or creative projects. Research projects are usually presented in poster format, but we also work with students who present in multimedia formats. SOARS is a welcoming environment in which students can refine their presentation skills through interaction with peers and faculty as they explain their projects, which will be in various stages of development.

Each year, we encourage people from across the University and throughout the broader Jacksonville community to attend SOARS. As a virtual conference, SOARS 2021 can cast an even wider net, potentially reaching a global audience – a silver lining to the dark cloud of COVID-19.

A Few Words

From The Event Organizer

SOARS, a highlight of UNF Research Week, is organized and sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) with graduate projects sponsored by the Graduate School. SOARS is always a group effort, something that has remained consistent even as we continue to negotiate the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year, I gratefully acknowledge the fabulous team members who worked nimbly and creatively together with me to make SOARS 2021 happen for the second year as a virtual conference: Kaitlyn Minnicks, the committed and unfailingly cheerful SOARS Student Project Manager; Brianna Nieves, a UNF graduate student and the newest member of the OUR team; Andy Rush, Course Media Developer with the UNF Center for Instruction and Research Technology (CIRT) Creative Team, fondly known as the SOARS web magician; and Dave Wilson, CIRT’s ever-patient associate director.

We all hope you enjoy the 2021 Showcase of Osprey Advancements in Research and Scholarship – SOARS!
